Tomoe River Notebook | Standard TN | 320 Pages | Joy Story | Fountain Pen Friendly

Tomoe River by Sanzen is a fine, lightweight 68 GSM writing paper with a smooth surface and a distinctive relationship with fountain pen ink. With the right combination, shading, sheening, and tonal value can become especially rewarding to notice as you write.

Its lightness also makes remarkable page capacity possible. A substantial amount of writing can live inside a relatively compact notebook, while the fine sheet develops a layered, dimensional character as both sides fill.

Tomoe River does not try to hide the fact that it is a very fine sheet. Writing from the reverse side can remain softly visible through the paper, creating the show-through—or ghosting—that becomes part of its visual character as a notebook fills. That is different from bleed-through, where ink actually penetrates the sheet.

For someone who enjoys a lightweight, layered, visibly used notebook, that quality can be part of the appeal. The paper can become crinkly, dimensional, and increasingly lived in over time. If you prefer more visual separation between both sides of a page, another paper experience may suit you better.

A soft cover gives the notebook flexibility on the outside, while case binding creates a more substantial book structure within. The binding allows the notebook to lay flat across an open spread, giving you more usable space for writing, planning, note-taking, and longer sessions.

Rounded corners soften the profile and help the book feel considered from cover to page. It is a construction made for notebooks you expect to spend plenty of time inside.
